About

This blog has been several years in the making.  I’ve always had plenty of things in my head to write about–but I’ve never taken the time to actually write them down.  This has been my New Year’s resolution for over two years, and now, I’ve done the hardest part–created this page.  As for the title of my page, that has a story, too.  Several years ago, my aunt started taking out my great-aunts for lunch.  This lunch date, once a month, was to get the matriarchs of the Jacks’ family (all 80 years old and above) out of the house and give them a chance to socialize with one another.  The first date was a hit and later the luncheon was dubbed “The Pearls” named after the one matriarch that binds all of us together, Ma Polly (my great-grandmother).  This monthly lunch date grew and grew to include not only the great-aunts but also aunts, nieces, and close girlfriends.  “The Pearls” are now an official monthly meeting that includes a secretary, treasurer, and official bylaws.  According to the bylaws, I’ll have the official title of Mini Pearl until I’m 32 1/2.  Since I have a couple of years to go, I think this blog title will be appropriate. Chronicles of a Mini Pearl is for all of you who have encouraged me to do this.  I hope all will enjoy–even those oysters out there.
